“Most of us, swimming against the tides of trouble the world knows nothing about, need only a bit of praise or encouragement – and we will make the goal.” ~Jerome Fleishman
What a beautiful night to honor our children; A night to celebrate them before they are gone, all too soon. What is it I heard recently? “The days are long but the years are short.” So true.
This is just a small snapshot of the night. The theme was honoring friendship.
Gabrielle graduates kindergarden and carries the flag! The gap where her front teeth used to be won’t last long. I try to capture that smile in a snapshot in my mind. She is so stinkin’ cute.
Proud mommas! Truth be known, tired mommas. Trying to pull it all together before school is officially over. Dozens of dangling details remaining and fires to put out. Remorse over what we didn’t accomplish and what didn’t get done, and all there is still left to do.
But this night is special. It is worth all the effort, the sleepless nights and running around. It is for them, you know, and it is a night my kids treasure.
Jessica gives our group event update for the 2011/2012 school year.
She will be driving this summer.
Wasn’t it just yesterday she was dancing? Sigh…Achievement tables are more than just producing. How do you put character growth on a table?
I list the books of the Bible that Jessica read this year and even I am amazed. I wished I had read scripture at her age.
Neecie, our emcee… She is the detail dynamo! The night was extra special with all her particulars that seemed to effortlessly (not) fall into place.
Then…
The Awards…
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11,ESV)
You can’t imagine the radiance of that beaming smile when you award a child a medal for real, genuine, authentic hard work …..until you see it first hand.
“If you want your children to improve, let them overhear the nice things you say about them to others.” – Haim Ginott
Schools out for the summer! How do you celebrate?
