One shoe can change your life. Just ask Cinderella!
The Goal:
10 million pairs of shoes on the feet of 10 million children in the next 10 years
7,000,000 more to go.
Since this is the second time we have volunteered with Samaritan’s Feet, I will refer you to their website or my last blog post about Samaritan’s Feet to learn about their story.
Samaritan’s feet takes donations from shoe companies and individuals. They also manufacture their own shoes and have John 3:16 put on every pair. These shoes are made in China. I wonder if the workers know the verse they put on these shoes?
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
These are some of the destinations. Shoes are given out nationally and internationally.
“…nearly 1,000,000 die each year as a result of foot-borne illnesses that may be preventable by simple protection – shoes.”
Before giving a child a pair of shoes, every foot is washed and they hear the Gospel. Not only do they have their feet washed but warm clean socks to go with their brand new pair of shoes.
“How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
Who proclaims salvation,
Who says to Zion,
“ Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7
Their soles are covered. And their souls are covered.
We processed shoes; unwrapped, unstuffed, tied them together and labeled the bottoms with sizes.
Kids making a difference in other kids lives; some of them a world away.
Brad told us about upcoming mission trips and also his personal experiences, giving kids shoes. Some of these children never had a pair of shoes in their lives. He mentioned that they do not complain about the shoes they receive. They are just so happy to get a pair. We should be so grateful too.
Thank you Samaritan’s Feet for allowing us to make a difference.
