3 Ideas From Write2Ignite
That are worth remembering.
This is the theme I pulled out of the conference this year and feel that God has placed on my heart:
#1- “Sometimes your dreams = your purpose.” Bill Reeves
from his workshop, “Following God’s Call On Your Life”. Is this why God gives us the desire of our hearts? Perhaps fulfilling His will is why desire is on our hearts in the first place. (See #3.)
#2- When we hold back our gifts, we affect His glory.
Every flaw or detail we see as a mistake can and will glorify God if we let it. (Paraphrased from Key Note speaker, Torry Martin)
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
#3- Your gifts are different from your calling.
I learned this from my teens who attended Tony Snipe’s workshop in the teen track.
“Your Calling is somewhat like the “Mission” or Purpose for your life. Your “gift” is your talent, skill and ability which aids you to fulfill that mission. For example, my Calling is to help creative people discover their purpose (notice nothing “talent” related was mentioned there). Now, God equipped me with certain abilities that help me accomplish that task. I use my ability to draw, write, speak in public, my familiarity with social media…all of these “gifts”, talents and abilities in order to complete the mission (calling). ” Tony Snipes
This last one has stuck with me the last week.
You need to know your calling, or your why.
I found this excellent video that applies to your ‘why’, in your personal or business life. Simon Sinek gives 3 great examples from Apple, Martin Luther King, and The Wright Brothers. He is an ethnographer (I had to look that up.)
